Westhampton Beach Yard Sales
Westhampton Beach is an incorporated village of the Town of Southampton, sitting on Long Island's South Shore well west of the Shinnecock Canal, with Moniebogue and Quantuck bays and the Dune Road barrier island lying to its south. The surrounding land passed to the town in the 1666 Quogue Purchase, and the village itself was incorporated in 1928.

About Westhampton Beach
The Native name for the area was Ketchaponack, generally translated as 'place where large roots grow,' and the Howell Homestead, built around 1727, is the oldest house in the village. The community remained farming and fishing country until the Long Island Rail Road reached Westhampton in 1869, after which it developed as a summer resort. The 1938 hurricane devastated the village, killing 29 people and destroying nearly every house then standing on the barrier beach. Main Street is anchored by the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, which opened as a movie theater in 1933, was bought by a group of residents in 1997, and reopened as a performing arts center the following year. The older year-round blocks inland of Main Street, rather than the repeatedly rebuilt oceanfront along Dune Road, are where most of the village's estate sales come out of.
